Joe Young Returns Home

We rec'd our monkey, Joe Young back this week. He was in good condition & brought home lots of souveneirs to boot! The journal was packed full of stuff he did with the Host Family in FL. He was able to meet Charter, the horse from the same host family, too!

They are having better weather in FL than we are, we are at a wind chill of ZERO here in VA! BRRR...

Sally is Returning Home Tomorrow!

:( Sally is leaving us tomorrow. She had a good time, I think.

We will send her back with a few surprises in the package. I hope Caylee likes them!

Still Awaiting our FT's!

We are patiently awaiting our newest Flat Travelers to arrive!!
In the meantime, we are searching for new hints & tips to make the visits more exciting!
Here is what we have come up with on "what to do" when your FT's arrive and are ready to travel, explore, learn & create!

1. Make a Passport to send back home with your visitor or make one to send with your sent-out traveler. Here is a PDF file that has templates to print for the passports!
2. Send something fun BACK with the FT... for instance:

• postcards
  menus
  stamps
  brochures
  maps
  candy
  pencils
  bookmarks
  keychains
  stickers
  magnets
  notepads

3. Start a blog for your visiting flats and for the flats that you send out, too! It is easy & fun and it is free!

This blog is a great example! This blog has so many cool ideas, your head will spin!

My niece decided to get in on this project, as she visits every weekend & she was very interested. So, she made the girly ones to send out & already had a host family from FL that was so gracious as to take her! YAY!

Making Your Flat Traveler Tips

I am starting a new segment of tips/hints that I receive on making our Flat Travelers to be sturdy, colorful, fun, & travel-worthy!

• For Lamination, take it to an office supply instead of using the Clear Contact Paper, as I did. It is much more sturdy.


• Write your name/address on the back before lamination, so if it gets lost, there is a permanent record of its home address.


• Punch a hole & tie some yarn through, so the receiving child can "wear" it for convenience when "traveling".

DK returning home!

We have had fun with our FT. We played video games together- we played computer games together, too! Here is DK posing with our fish in our big tank.

We will be sending our Flat Traveler, Donkey Kong, home this week. He is from Canada!

We hope to see our Super-Boy soon, too! Hope he has had a great trip!

We took a trip to Petco, a local too-big-for-their-britches pet store!

New idea from soon-to-be 6 year old...

Mail should be delivered to friends by way of "paper airplane" mail !

But, he says, it will only work if they live two houses away!! lol

Sorry we have not posted our activities in a while.
We have been doing little the past few days. It is raining today...
we made leaf mobiles yesterday, from all the beautiful leaves we collected yesterday.

J. is still having fun with DK- he has not forgotten about him, in the least!

Days 1 & 2 with Donkey Kong Flat

We rec'd Donkey Kong last Sat. He came ALL the way from CANADA!!!

We started doing things with him right away.

Day 1- Donkey Kong is with J. & the mommy doggy. She has 4 puppies that are ready to go to new homes!

Day 2- DK takes a high-flying ride in an X-Wing Fighter plane from Star Wars.
